Stainless steel welding.
Stainless steel is a fully recyclable material which has many uses in many industries; in fact the use of stainless steel is a vital material for the manufacturing industry. Stainless steel is easily welded and manipulated into various shapes and designs and is used for many architectural products.
There are many different types of stainless steel depending on the application and there are different methods for welding stainless steel depending on the type.
Stainless steel belongs to a group of metals which have varying degrees of rust free capabilities; this is largely due to the presence of chromium in stainless steel. Chromium is on the surface of stainless steel surface helping to create a layer of chromium oxide. The chromium oxide produces a very tough layer on the stainless steel layer protecting it from rusting and deteriorating. This ensures that stainless steel architectural products such as ornamental staircases, stainless steel handrails and balustrades installed in exterior environment, maintain their appearance and last for many years.
Stainless steel covers a wide variety of stainless steel types and the type will determine the welding methods and specifications used.
Care is taken when welding stainless steel especially at joints because this is when the chromium can differ in its levels and thus expose the stainless steel material to rusting and damage.
There are also different types of stainless steel grades and there are over 150 grades, the stainless steel grades will depend on the application of the material and the environment it is in.
